Fighting DIPG- Good news and Bad news

We received Ava's MRI results and the news is mixed.  Her tumor on the PONS is the same size as her last MRI.  This is good news, but there is a "spot" on the top center part of her brain.  We don't know what this is.  It could be nothing or it could be her tumor spreading.  She will be getting a PET scan soon to verify what it could be.

Jeremy and I are very devastated to hear this news.  Ava has been doing so well and showing no new symptoms.  We have feared the word "progression" for so long and really can't face hearing it right now.  We put all our hope into the trial and really felt like it was working.

It's so hard to deal with the fact that Ava's cancer could be progressing.  I sometimes look at other children going through a different kind of cancer that is easily treated and cured and wish Ava was that lucky.  I feel awful for thinking that because no cancer is "easy" and no kid that has cancer is "lucky".

We will continue to hope and pray that Ava beats  this!

We keep praying for her! Did you receive the prayer blanket and bear we sent Ava? I am a friend of Tina Macedo and heard about Ava through her.

Melissa, yes we did! Ava loves the blanket and her sister claimed the bear...LOL. Thank you! We just sent your mom a thank you card :)
